How to Forward Hotmail to Gmail and create a label

First Register

Step 1

1. After registering, and logging in, please visit the Account Management page. You will receive two error messages on the screen alerting you to set up your account for forwarding. Click on the link in the first error message to add a Hotmail account which you would like to forward messages from.

Step 2

2. After visiting the “Manage Hotmail” page, you will notice that you don’t have any Hotmail Accounts added yet. Scroll down to the “Add New Hotmail Account” section on the page and enter your Hotmail username and password, and then your password again. Free accounts are only allowed to forward one Hotmail account while Paid customers are allowed three.

Note: Only accounts which use the new Windows Live Mail are compatible with this service. If you are not currently using it, log into your
Hotmail account, and enable Windows Live Mail for free.

Step 3

3. After entering your Hotmail login details, you will arrive on a page which will allow you to select the mail folders that you would like to forward. Select the folders you want to have forwarded and hit continue.

Note: The number on the side of the folder stands for how many total messages you have in your folder, not the total number of new messages. You
can make multiple selections by holding down the Ctrl key and click on multiple values. It is advised not to forward your Junk mail.

Step 4

4. After selecting your folders, you will arrive on another page which prompts you for your forwarding settings.
  • Mark Forwarded Email Read – This will mark forwarded messages as read so that they will not be forwarded more than one time.
  • Delete Forwarded Email – This option allows you to Delete emails that have been forwarded
  • Email Subject Identifier – To distinguish your Hotmail emails from your normal mail in your Inbox, you may want to use this option. For example, the default Subject Identifier is “Hotmail: “. When applied to an email with subject “Hello”, It will forward it as “Hotmail: Hello”
  • Check Interval – How often do you normally check your mail? Set this field to how often you want the Hotmail Forwarder to forward your emails.

Note: The minimum check rate for free accounts is “Daily”. You must upgrade your account to allow a more frequent check rate

Step 5

5. After submitting your settings, the Hotmail Forwarder will automatically load your contacts list, and will allow you to share the Hotmail Forwarder with other friends and family
Note: If you don’t want to send an Invite to any of your contacts, select the “Check/Uncheck all” button

Step 6

6. You have now completed the first half of setting up your account for forwarding. Now go back to the “Account Management” page.

Step 7

7. You will now notice that you still have another Error message alerting you to add a receiving email address. Click on the link in the error message to continue the setup.

Step 8

8. In this section, you are prompted to add an email address that you would like your Hotmail emails forwarded to. Scroll down to the “Add New Email” section to enter the emails addresses you would like have your emails forwarded to. You may add one email per line. Free accounts are allowed one email address while there is no limit to how many email addresses Paid accounts may add. After you are done, hit “Add”

Step 9

9. Your email addresses now have been added to the Database, but they will not be active until you validate them by following the instructions in the email that will be sent to it.

Step 10

10. Your account is now ready for forwarding!

Step 11

11. Find and Click on the “Settings” link on the top of the page.

Step 12

12. Go to the “Labels” Section.

Step 13

13. Enter the name of the label you would like to store your Hotmail emails in. It is recommended to either use “Hotmail” or your email address. Next, click on the “Filters” Link.

Step 14

14. Click on “Create a new filter”

Step 15

15. In the Subject field type in the Subject Identifier you used while setting up your Hotmail account for forwarding. Click on “Next Step” to continue. You may want to click “Test Search” to confirm your results.

Another feature which is now available for this stem is that you can now enter your Hotmail email address in the to "To" field to filter emails that were sent by the forwarder, instead of using the subject identifier.

Step 16

16. On the “Apply the label” section, select the name of the label you created in the previous step. If you want the Hotmail emails to go directly to this folder, and not show in your Inbox, click, “Skip the Inbox”. When you are done, click “Create Filter”. If you made a “Test Search”, you may also want to select “Also apply filter to conversations below”.

Step 17

17. Your Gmail account is now set up to organize your forwarded Hotmail emails![/b]
